HUBER Solutions for Stormwater Treatment
Runoffs from metal roofs contain heavy metals (e.g. copper, zinc or even lead). Our treatment system HUBER HydroFilt removes heavy metals from rainwater runoffs and infiltrates them into the ground.
A filter basket is inserted in a manhole that is particularly designed for ground-infiltration. The basket is filled with a special filter mass. Arriving rainwater first flows through a sedimentation chamber, where solids are settled, and then upstream through the filter above. The filter mass removes heavy metals by ion-exchange. The filtered rainwater finally percolates through the porous bottom of a lateral concrete pipe and seeps into the ground.

A special feature of the HUBER HydroFilt is its ability to reliably decontaminate rainwater with high heavy metal concentrations, as occurs when rain sets in after an extended dry weather period (first-flush effect). Prior solids removal prevented filter and drain pipe clogging and guarantees long service life of the filter mass.
Service and maintenance of the HUBER HydroFilt is very easy: every 5 to 10 years sludge is evacuated from the sedimentation chamber; at the same time the filter mass is regenerated by rinsing it with a salt solution.
