External Screenings Washing System (ERGA)
When the clarification process is to be optimised, the integrated screenings washing system is a wellproven instrument to improve the nitrogen/carbon ratio and save costs. As the soluble matter is separated from the inert material, faeces are virtually completely washed out which leads to a significant weight reduction.
With our external screenings washing system (ERGA) a preceding washing system washes out the organic matter while no additional water to wash out screenings is needed. The resulting weight and volume 2000 reduction significantly reduces disposal costs.

The system achieves the generation of a strong turbulent flow upstream of a Micro Strainer. The acting forces ensure organic pollutants are washed out, especially faeces and other biowaste carried along by the wastewater. The organic material is reliably dissolved from the inorganic substances and can pass through the Micro Strainer.
The washed out screenings collect in the screen basket and are transported away by a removal screw, which dewaters and compacts the screenings while being transported. The solubilised organic pollutants can pass through the Micro Strainer and are therefore further available as carbon source in the continuing WWTP process. The amount of screenings can be reduced by up to 65% and disposal costs cut down accordingly.
