Grit Separation

Innovative Grit Separation Systems.

Subordinated Product Groups

To guarantee the reliability of wastewater treatment plants it is necessary to separate grit and other mineral solids from the incoming wastewater. At the same time it is important that the removed grit contains few organic solids.

Grit separation from wastewater prevents problems, such as grit sedimentation (in aeration tanks and digestors), excessive wear (of pumps, mixers or sludge centrifuges) and clogging (e.g of sludge hoppers and pipelines).

The goals are to separate over 90 % of the grit and inorganic material having a particle size of 200 microns (0.2 mm) and, at the same time, to achieve a clean grit product with a low organic concentration. Grit classifiers cannot produce a clean grit product. Only grit washers can achieve below 10 % organics in the grit product. Our RoSF 4 grit washer achieves even less than 3% organics. The product is so clean that the grit can be reused, e.g. for road bedding.

Our Comlete Plants combine screening with highly effective grit removal. Grease removal and additional grit washing are also available.
