A tank and our MembraneClearBox® are essentially all that is needed for a compact MBR system.
Raw wastewater from the connected houses flows through a settling tank, where sludge and scum are retained, and into a storage tank for flow equalization. Instead of sedimentation, a fine screen with 1/8" (3 mm) perforations can be provided.
The pre-treated wastewater is pumped from the storage tank into the membrane bioreactor (MBR) wherein several Vacuum Upstream Membranes VUM® are installed. The MembraneClearBox® unit is also provided with aeration and air scouring. Activated sludge grows in the bioreactor thereby aerobicly degrading the organic pullutants in the wastewater. The activated sludge is retained in the reactor by the membranes. Biologically treated and crystal clear effluent is drawn by a permeate pump through the membranes.
